DC Leather Pride Announces Weekend of Events, New Board and New Website

In Fourth Year of Activities, Organization Expands Reach

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the fourth Pride season for DC Leather Pride approaches, the organization announced several major updates to its leadership and calendar. DC Leather Pride added four new members to its Board of Directors, and re-elected five existing members to another term. Additionally, they announced new monthly events at the DC Eagle and rolled out the first DC Leather Pride Weekend, which will occur May 12th to the 14th.

Co-chairs Miguel Ayala and Kyle Collins as well as Treasurer Dan Ronneberg and Secretary Khalid El Bey were re-elected to the board and their position. Board member Evan Ribeiro was joined by newly elected board members Daniel Ferguson, Grayson Wayman , Dominion Onyx, and David “Tigger” Bailey, the current International Mr. Leather. The organization is also hosting its inaugural DC Leather Pride Weekend, with a slate of events aimed at celebrating the leather community in the nation’s capital. The theme of the weekend is “Rebel” and will feature the following events:

  • Friday, May 12, partners with the Cherry Fund for the weekend kick off dance party at the DC Eagle called “Rebel Heart’ featuring an opening set from local DJ Kudjo and headline set by DJ Seth Breezy. Breezy just spun at the closing party of the White Party in Miami.
  • On Saturday, May 13th at 4pm, the weekend continues with DC Leather Pride’s annual “Drag Out Your Leather” fundraising event for local leather titleholders, Grey, Mr. DC Eagle, and Leatherman of Color, Kai. The event will be  at Cobalt and will be hosted by local drag queen and national titleholder Kristina Kelly. The event is co-presented with the Imperial Court of Washington, DC and The DC Sisters.
  • That evening starting at 10pm, the weekend will continue with the monthly Distrkt C party, themed “Rebel Yell,” at the DC Eagle, featuring DJs Mike Reimer and Tracy Young.
  • The weekend will be capped off on Sunday with a tea dance and beer bust, entitled “Bad Reputation” at the DC Eagle starting at 2pm.  The event will feature go-go dancers and DJ Say What?!? (also known as board member Evan Ribeiro) from the weekly Bear Happy Hour at Town.

Starting today, a weekend run pass that includes admission to all events and bottomless beer at the beer bust on Sunday will be available for $55 until April 3.  The run pass price will then incrementally rise until pre-sales end on May 10th. DC Leather Pride was officially formed on January 6, 2015 in the District of Columbia, with the purpose of bringing together the LGBTQA leather community and helping inspire a new generation of kinksters.
